About the frog:
Common name: Harlequin Poison Dart Frog also called “Quebrada La Rusia”
Scientific name: (Oophaga histrionica)
Harlequin poison dart frogs are small frogs, measuring only 1 to 1.5 inches (2.5 to 3.8 cm). They are found in Columbia on the floor of tropical rainforests in moist humid conditions and moving around on fallen branches and leaves.
They can be found in varying base colors of bright to dull orange, yellow, red, white, and powder-blue with a web-like pattern over their body varying in a thick or thin stripes to speckled, incomplete lines. The bright markings act as a warning to predators that their skin glands can produce a highly toxic poison capable of repelling or killing small predators.
